The TransCon has 4,647 route miles traversing 13 states. In 2009, the TransCon moved over 235 million tons of freight, the equivalent of over 9.4 million trucks, saving over 1 billion gallons of fuel and 11 million tons of greenhouse gases. The TransCon is also host to Amtrak’s Southwest Chief and in California, the San Joaquin, Pacific Surfliner and Capitol Corridor services and in the Los Angeles Basin, Metrolink. The majority of the freight moving across this Corridor is agricultural, consumer and industrial products.
